(Source: Sanspo) The 59th NHK Kouhaku Uta Gassen Competition (for those who don't know, every year NHK hosts this red-white singing competition where the female artistes all form the red group and male artistes are in the white group and they face off in this singing competition, more here on wikipedia) raked in 42.1% in ratings, the highest in the recent 3 years.
